Cersaie Tile Trends 2014

Oct 29, 2014

Cersaie 2014, The International Tile & Stone Expo in Bologna, Italy has once again inspired designers worldwide. Here are the top trends and innovations as seen at Cersaie 2014.

Texture: We love that tile is no longer flat, or at least it doesn’t appear so. Whether through advanced printing technologies it appears to have dimension or it actually has texture and dimension this trend was prominent.

Here is a peek at our favorite dimensional products.

3D Cubes: Appearing around every corner in a multitude of different scales, the 3D Cube took the place of last year’s chevron craze. Contrasting colors, finishes and scales made each mosaic unique.

Italian Innovation: The Italians are without a doubt the leaders in porcelain innovation. Through advanced printing techniques they continually refine their products to replicate natural products. From wood to stone and everything in between, they never cease to amaze us! Our favorites from this year are below:

Slate Planking. We fell in love with the beautiful variation of this large format installation.

Calactta is a true classic and is making another debut in the porcelain market. Caution: some replicas are spot on while others have significant repeats resulting in unsightly installations. Our favorite is Stones & More from Casa Dolce Casa.  Calacatta porcelains are available in sizes up to 72"x136."

Last but not least, pattern was prominent, everything from encaustic tile with terrazzo detailing to sketch like patterns.
