Ceramics of Italy Tile Trends Spring/Summer 2021

We’re still stuck at home, not visiting any tile shows and not getting our fix from Coverings, Revestir, Cevisama, or Cersaie. But Ceramics of Italy have come through with a trends report so at least we can share that!

Organic

Staying in makes the need for a relaxing home environment even stronger. And there is little more relaxing than nature. Emphasising wellness, calm, and rejuvenation, it’s organic irregular shapes, subtle textures, and warm tones that feature heavily in this trend.

Expressive

After monotonous days and time apart, the desire to burst forward with a punch of personality is strong. Whether its bright colours, unusual patterns, or striking contrasts, the movement towards eye-catching character is strong.

Skinny

Skinny formats have taken the world by storm, and they’re here to stay. Stretched and slim subway tiles are a simple switch from an interior classic. With a touch more class and oddles of opportunity to add individuality with layouts, it’s no wonder skinny formats are proving so popular.

New Traditional

The calming nostalgia of the past and the perceived stability of times gone by has lead to a movement towards tradition. This is seen not only in a buyer preference for antique furnishings, but also in terms of tiles, with marble and majolica amongst the favourites.

Minimalism

In stark contrast to expressive design, minimalism offers clarity and calm in interiors, offering space for special select items to shine. Large formats and gentle neutrals are the perfect choices for a minimalist space.
