The Mosaic Tile House

We’ve explored the wonderfully vibrant streets of Fusterlandia, Isaiah Zagar’s visionary Magic Gardens of South Philadelphia, and, of course, Barcelona’s famous Park Güell, but still the Tile Addict doesn’t tire from spaces decked out in the most fantastical of mosaics.

And today we share with you the ceramic construction from this creative couple – Cheri Pann and Gonzalo Duran. Both artists in their own right, with decades of experience culminating in collaborative commissions, politically conscious works, and collectors’ appreciation, they have turned their artistic energy into a miraculous mosaic marvel.

The Mosaic Tile House in Venice, California is topped and tailed with treasures. From the front porch to the kitchen, each surface is coated in colourful ceramics. The curvaceous, undulating shapes are reminiscent of a cave home, an organic space that appears to have developed of its own accord with whichever materials were closest.

It’s a highly impactful, fanciful space that exudes inspiration. The mosaics have a mind of their own and appear to hum with life. Over a decade of work has gone into The Mosaic Tile House, and it shows. Not only do fragments act as decor, but Pann’s own ceramic tiles feature throughout, as do a few more, unusual elements – like beanie-babies. It’s well worth taking a step into the magical here.
