SHELF wins the GOOD DESIGN® AWARDS 2018

Another success – this time international – for the SHELF project, the porcelain stoneware shelf designed by designer Paolo Benevelli for Ceramiche Coem. Already winner of the ADI Ceramics & Bathroom Design Award 2017, then selected for ADI Design Index 2018, it has now won the Good Design® Awards 2018, the industrial design prize awarded by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and promoted by the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. This award is given to the most innovative products of the year, and the awarded products are put on permanent display at the Chicago Athenaeum.
The award was created in Chicago in 1950 based on an idea by Edgar Kaufmann Jr, curator and founder of the Museum of Modern Art in Chicago, in cooperation with architects and designers Ray Eames, Russel Wright, George Nelson and Eero Saarinen. The jury, composed of sector professionals and experts, industrial specialists and the specialist press, bases its decisions on the original criteria used in 1950, in terms of innovation, shape, materials, construction, concept, function, utility and sustainability, as well as design. The considered product categories include electronic and medical equipment, kitchen and bathroom accessories, sports equipment, household goods, household appliances, graphics and packaging, lighting and street furniture, construction materials, furniture, fashion and fabrics, office articles, robotics and bionics, industrial instruments and vehicles. Shelf was classified in the FLOOR/WALLCOVERINGS2018
