Doggy Décor

Last month at Coverings the tiled doghouse program returned seeing twenty members of Tile Council of North America, Inc. (TCNA) generously donate unique, handcrafted tiled doghouses to the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando. Using doghouse forms from WediCorp and TCNA, participating companies created works of art that not only represent the versatility that tiles have to offer, but the completed works will be auctioned to raise money for pets in need.

The diversity of designs is intriguing, from the loyalty inspired true-blue of Anthology‘s piece, to the Hampton’s summer house style created by Marble Systems which comes complete with a white picket fence.

There are classic styles and custom pieces, such as the hand-painted “Happy Dog” tile at the back of ARTO Brick & Tile‘s doghouse. Marazzi‘s custom doghouse designed by Sarah Morales provides a pooch with a home that is “the epitome of on-trend style and fun” using Marazzi’s new encaustic-look D_Segni Color™ in Honeycomb on the roof and White Oak from American Olean’s Waterwood Collection on the four walls. The house was completed with hexagon tiles from the Waterwood Collection as the flooring.

Dogs cover the walls in M2 Innovative Concepts‘ doghouse. Using a water-jet dog pattern, a camouflage effect is created by the grey and white colour mix. Perfectly practical for a doghouse, the surfaces are self-cleaning due to the use of Hydrophilic Tile technology and the presence of titanium dioxide which triggers a reaction to kill germs and bacteria.

Dogs also feature heavily on Crossville‘s tiled doghouse. The walls are covered with their not yet released Alaska collection and feature waterjet-cut dog figures created from the Basalt collection. The mitered edges of the terrazzo look sides give a seamless look and the appearance of a single piece of terrazzo. The doghouse is completed with Sideview glass mosaics in a matte silver finish which give the added dimension the flat sides lack.
