Bright Benidorm Boardwalk

A rainbow walkway separates the sea and city along the West Beach in Benidorm, Spain. Designed by Carlos Ferrater and Xavier Marti The Paseo Marítimo is a waving, vibrant celebration of colour where locals and visitors alike can enjoy the surrounding area.

The walkway was built in three distinct layers which help it to both imitate nature, and showcase modernity. The rim close to the beach is composed of a white finished concrete, imitating the curves and folds of a cliff edge and the movement of the sea. Behind this is the mass of ceramic tiles, weaving from one colour to the next across the entire spectrum.

Vegetation and seating areas complete the promenade, offering views across the beach and a calm setting to enjoy the scenery. The tiles themselves have previously been covered by Tile Addict in an article exploring companies’ curious use of shapes in their ranges. Their distinctive circular shape and corresponding curved triangle exaggerate the waving design and the colour range offered by Equipe has enabled this unmissably striking design.
