Skinny Selection

Skinny formats have been trending a lot this year so Tile Addict took a look around Cersaie to see how companies have incorporated them into their ranges. And there are definitely some interesting formats, decors, and effects to see! Ceramica Rondine‘s Oxyd (covered in the metallics and pearlescents article) had a new skinny format addition to its collection. The new format included all of the standard urban metal-looks from the range, and also a fun new Decoro Reactive Mix which features a series of geometric shapes which can be used to great effect alongside the paler base tiles. Also from the company is Le Lacche, an innovative format (61 by 370mm) in a range of pastels and neutral tones on a textured surface.

From Veneto Ceramicas came this range of patterned skinny format tiles. The range of shapes and decors based around lines and curves is simple yet effective. The colour selection of black, white, and blue allow for an uncomplicated look, where the shapes themselves can be the main focus and the skinny format enables continueous pattern looks as well as a high level of variation.

Revoir Paris‘ cement tile series Atelier brings together both skinny format and pastel colours, including some richer, deeper hues, and shade variation due to production methods. The range was designed with a textured backing which enables the tiles to be placed very close together, minimising the grout lines and providing a unique visual effect.

Ribesalbes also combines pastels with skinny format in their Ocean range, with pale pink, blue, and green offered alonside the more neutral whites and greys. The range is presented alongside patterened decor elements and the tiles’ subtle colouring makes them a perfect pairing for something a little more adventurous.

There was plenty of skinny format tiles at the Natucer stand this year. Their Convex range adds a little depth to the trend, with a curved central relief and a range of colours, including softer shades which were presented at Cersaie. Piastrella’s range of skinny formats take them to ultra-long lengths with the three size options of 50 by 250mm, 50 by 500mm, and 150 by 500mm, enabling some fun pattern options.
