5 Areas to Use Porcelain Tile

As The Tile Turns

When you hear discussion of porcelain, your first instinct might be to imagine a delicate plate or perhaps a collectible or vintage doll. However, porcelain is surprisingly adaptable and comes in many forms, including those suitable for flooring. A porcelain tile floor gets its start as natural clay and ground sand; the material then undergoes a heat treatment process that eliminates the water and hardens the clay.

A Good Use For Slate

How to Floor Tile

This in my opinion is a good use for slate. Slate has some very endearing and really great looking qualities if applied to the proper use. I think as an architectural design element it works very well. This offers a warm earthy 3-D texture that simply hasn't been replicated in porcelain or ceramic that I have seen so far. But, put this in a wet, exterior or high traffic area and the maintenance goes way up.

The dishwasher is a popular target for reinvention. Over the years, it's appeared as a drawer, integrated into the sink, and as an object of pity: a portable, roll-away appliance deemed unfit for discerning eyes. This incarnation—strictly a concept at this point—is designed by students Mohsen Jafari Malek and Behzad Taheri. Meant to ease the ergonomic difficulty of bending down to load the machine, its racks rise up, allowing above-counter access.

It is different from walls since walls are usually made of solid bricks or concrete which does not only block passage but vision as well.
