The normal grit progression for this marble polishing job would be 220, 400, 800 and then polish the tiles. Fabric and Tile Masters went a bit further with this job because it was on the ocean, with no shade and revealed the stone from every angle. We used additional honing cuts of 1500 and 3500 before marble polishing. It was difficult to photograph the project because of the sunlight was so bright. In the photos you can see the areas of honed finish and the contrast with the marble polishing.

This is the floor at the factory honed finish. Probably about 220 grit. As you can see, the entire room is bordered by sliders that expose every square foot to bright sunlight. We polish the floor the same way regardless of the way the light reveals, but if I were going to offer a floor that demonstrates our capabilities, it would be this one above all others.

The area that was honed is of course on the left side of this photo and the beginning stages of marble polishing  on the right.

You can see the stone has developed a darker color. This is characteristic of the marble polishing process. Clarity and color become more pronounced during the grit progression.

The completed floor.

This was truly a great project and demanded we produce a uniform finish without topical finishes or sealers. The images you are viewing here are of a stone that has been modified by using diamond tools. The finish will last for years if properly cared for. There will never be the need to strip of an unsightly coating to refinish.
