The Miami New Construction Show, which is scheduled to run from October 22-25, was founded by trained economist and real estate entrepreneur Anita Funtek. The first ever buyers-direct real estate forum in South Florida, the show is designed to give buyers and investors a one-stop venue to view and research new luxury condominium projects in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.

Last year’s inaugural presentation featured 115 exhibitors and attracted 15,000 visitors while generating over $125 million in industry sales within three days. This year, the show has established a visitor target of 25,000 visitors for a four-day event, which will be staged at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Scores of South Florida developers have registered to showcase their luxury condo projects. Between tours of the exhibition areas, visitors will have the opportunity to hear from front-line builders, brokers and industry service providers at morning and afternoon panel discussions.

“This year’s lineup of exhibitors, discussion panels and broker presentations will give our visitors a more detailed view of the region’s innovative amenities, game changing projects and emerging marketplace trends,” Funtek said.

There will also be keynote speakers who will discuss the evolution of development in South Florida, new developments in the local economy and home space and designer trends.

The keynoter lineup will be led by Dr. Paul George, a longtime South Florida historian and Professor of History at Miami-Dade College, and historian at HistoryMiami. This will be his second appearance at the show to discuss the evolution of South Florida real estate development. He will speak on Thursday, October 22.

Matthew Haggman, Miami program director of the Knight Foundation, will discuss the emergence of startup businesses in South Florida. He leads a Foundation initiative aimed at assisting emerging entrepreneurs and startups as a way of building communities. An award winning journalist who covered local government and real estate at the Miami Herald and legal topics at the Daily Business Review, he will speak on Friday, October 23.

Egypt Sharrod is CEO of The Egypt Sharrod Real Estate Group in Atlanta, and is widely regarded as a home space expert. She has concentrated on assisting first-time home buyers and sellers, and has hosted programs on HGTV. She will speak on Sunday, October 25.

The Miami New Construction Show will also present a lifetime achievement award to legendary Miami broker Alicia Cervera, founder of Cervera Real Estate. Over 40 years, her firm sold hundreds of thousands of high rise luxury units; she has been a consultant to some of the most prolific developers in the region.

Media representatives are invited to attend all of the presentations. Time for question and answer sessions will be allotted after each formal presentation. All of the panel discussions will be recorded.
