OSHA Silica Rule Gets Session at Hardscape North America

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Concerns over new federal rules on crystalline silica will be the focus of a special presentation this fall at Hardscape North America 2017.

David Murray, safety and health consultant for the state of Nevada, will present “OSHA’s New Crystalline Silica Regulation” on Oct. 20 during this year’s HNA event at the Kentucky Exposition Center.

Murray will explain how hardscape contractors can comply with the new law, and detail the detrimental effects of silica when inhaled from saw-cutting products made from concrete, clay, stone and porcelain.

Additionally, the HNA Conference Session will cover how to:

• Measure dust inhalation on job sites;
• Create a plan and safety equipment selection for minimizing exposure;
• Designate a competent inspector and staff training;
• Provide employee medical surveillance; and
• Comply with OSHA record-keeping requirements.

Also new to the HNA session agenda is “Emerging Online Lead Generation Trends for Residential Hardscape Businesses” on Oct. 19. Featuring an array of data, this session will discuss how homeowners are really behaving online – and how residential hardscape businesses can leverage this behavior to grow sales.

Presenting the session will be agenda is Todd Bairstow, whose contractor briefing on “Lead Generation Myths” last year received positive reviews. Bairstow is a 12-year veteran of the “Pay Per Lead” business model and performance-based business philosophy, and will share how contractors can tap into a new marketing stream to generate new business.
