The Slifer Designs Retail Team set out to conquer the High Point Market in North Carolina earlier this month. For the uninitiated: the market happens twice per year and is only open to industry members.
The market is comprised of more than 2000 vendors, 180-plus buildings with 11.5 million square feet of showspace, miles of walking, tens of thousands of new product introductions which translates into an unending eye candy for the designer in any of us. It’s a chance to see what is up-and-coming, find new trends and new ways to style. While we came away with a lot of trends, ideas and inspiration – not to mention new product for the showroom – here are a few samples of what really made an impression – and what we can’t wait to share with you. {Spoiler alert!}
We can’t wait for the new product to arrive in the showroom to create new vignettes – inspired by our trip to the East Coast, but with the signature Slifer twist.
We all know art comes in many different forms, but this one really caught my eye. I was very drawn to texture at Market. This piece, of rolled up newspaper ends in a shadowbox frame, was by far my favorite.
Obviously the wares inside the buildings really make an impression, but the architecture throughout the sprawling downtown area is just as astounding. This was one of the buildings that housed showrooms – I found the architecture incredible. Just as a little insight, this building is called the Showplace, with more than 100 vendors from furniture to faucetry.
Taracea’s showroom is in an old radio building and it’s very clever and creative! I love how they left the original elements and used them to stage their showroom. From the moment we walked in the door, the vault was such a focal point – there was a dining room set up in the vault.
This is Woodbridge’s entry. I absolutely love the texture in the fabric used on the ottoman and the pillows. The wall color is the new updated coral! I love it. Very fun and bright – something that I might even try at home. In full disclosure, another designer does the upholstery, while Woodbridge does the casegoods. (Casegoods is a term used for furniture that is not upholstered and is made of wood. Pieces of furniture that provide interior storage space are also casegoods.)
This was another favorite vignette of mine, also in Woodbridge. I loved how monochromatic this room was and how the art, accessories and wall color really made this room pop.
High Point was an amazing experience. There will be a lot of new inventory coming through our doors! I hope to see you at the store.
