The world of retail is exciting – spotting new trends, shaking things up and discovering the hottest find. Slifer Designs is thrilled to announce the promotion of three long-time employees who will round out the retail and buying team, which means exciting things for the retail showroom.

“I am happy to be able to announce three familiar faces will take over the buying and merchandising at Slifer Designs,” says Yvonne Jacobs, president. “This trio has a strong history with Slifer, which means they can incorporate some of our favorite vendors while bringing a fresh perspective to the showroom.”

Tara Klaers has been promoted to buyer and co-visual merchandiser, Addie Lagace to co-visual merchandiser and Lisa Mikels is retail manager.

Tara has been with Slifer Designs for fifteen years and is an invaluable member of the design team. Her organization, style and history makes her a perfect fit in her new role as buyer/co-visual merchandiser. Her degree is in merchandising and she can’t wait to delve into this new aspect of her career.

“I am pleased to take this new step in my career and continue to grow at Slifer Designs,” Tara says. “This new position will be a challenge and the chance to learn a new aspect of the business.”

Addie, a veteran to the sales team and Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising graduate, joins Tara as co-visual merchandiser, using her fashion merchandising background along with her retail experience.

“I was drawn to Slifer Designs because I grew up in the Valley and knew it was one of the top design firms,” she explains. “I had a hard time deciding between fashion and interior design. I ended up taking the fashion route because of my love for sewing, but when my life lead me back to the valley I decided to switch to interior design side of things.

“I immediately fell in love with merchandising and loved being a part of our transfers every Wednesday. I learned as much as I could every week, and tried to be as hands on as possible, and it paid off!”

Lisa rejoined the Slifer Designs retail team mid-summer and has brought years of experience and enthusiasm to her new role. Lisa had worked at Slifer Designs for seven years before venturing to the Windy City. Upon her return, Slifer welcomed her with open arms as she knows the clients, the company and the art of retailing inside and out. In the roll of retail manager, Lisa will work closely with Tara and Addie, helping create fabulous vignettes to inspire.

“This is a cohesive staff with great insight, strong relationships and new ideas. They work well together and will certainly add a vibrancy to the showroom,” Yvonne adds. This group recently got back from the High Point Furniture Market in North Carolina, which is the mecca of home furnishings and design – for industry members only.

Every Wednesday the team transforms the showroom, putting together new vignettes as our White Glove Movers make deliveries to clients’ homes. Stop by and see our latest vignette and say hello!
