Changing Technologies, Inc. is in talks to begin important preservation and restoration work on an historical southeast Texas building utilizing its 3D scanning and digital modeling expertise. The proposed project would allow CHGT to expand its ever-growing portfolio and market an increased range of offerings to a wider customer base.
The scope calls for detailed reproduction of a series of large antique lion’s head ornaments now gracing the storied El Campo, TX, building’s exterior. The imposing ornaments have fallen victim to age and the legendary Texas heat and humidity. El Campo is a farming and ranching community approximately 70 miles southwest of Houston.
“This is a challenging and rewarding project that will stretch our know-how and greatly add to our capabilities,” said CHGT CEO Marco Valenzuela. “Particularly in terms of our 3D scanning and digital modeling, which are crucial skills we can now highlight to set us apart from the competition. Historical restoration is a line well suited to our expertise and it could become an important part of our revenue stream.”
Numerous history and preservation societies are currently engaged in high profile 3D scanning, modeling and printing projects, attesting to the field’s strong revenue potential. These include printing of indigenous artifacts, restoring colonial-era shipwrecks and Middle Eastern archeology relics.
