The bi-annual Furniture Market at High Point is a whirlwind of activity. A chance to rub elbows with the design elite at glitzy parties, and must attend showroom events. As a result many of us never leave the city center, a dense concrete jungle of buildings housing some of the most well-known home furnishings brands in the world.

However, on the outskirts of town lies the historic district, and if you are into historic preservation it’s worth getting in your car for a little sight-seeing. As you drive down treelined streets through idyllic neighborhoods you will see stunning homes with colonial, craftsman, and revival influences.

The 2019 Junior League of High Point Showhouse was located in the historic Dalton Bell Cameron House.

Located in one High Point’s historic homes was the 2019 Junior League of High Point Showhouse. The Dalton-Bell-Cameron house was one of the first examples of the Craftsman style in High Point. Built-in 1913, the home survived several fires and a scheduled demolition, and fortunately with the creative vision of 21 talented designers the home was rebuilt and painstakingly preserved for future generations.

The home was a virtual Pinterest board full of ideas and inspiration.

And last years Showhouse was certainly worth the drive, a virtual Pinterest board full of inspiration layered with eye-catching textiles and one of a kind finishes. An homage to the art deco and arts and crafts designs motifs and colorways. Each of the beautifully finished rooms reflective of the individual designer’s creativity and talent, from the modern-day “Dining Study” designed by Scot Meacham Woods to the classic charm of the young lady’s retreat by Kristen McCory.

The bedroom retreat was a masterful mix of accented neutrals.

One of my favorite spaces, and there were many, was the bedroom retreat. McCory masterfully layered a”calming palette of accented neutrals” from the custom wallpaper to the rich textiles. A nod to “vintage elegance,” it was a room I could imagine curling up in with a good book or getting ready for a high society soiree.

If you weren’t able to attend the showhouse, I’m sharing pictures of the stunning space, full of ideas and inspiration to help you create your own bedroom retreat!
