Awesome Araldica

From CEDIT by Florim comes a truly magical collection. The brains behind these bold and beautiful pieces is artist and graphic designer Federico Pepe. Here he took inspiration from marbled paper, a technique that results in a paper surface with an uncanny resemblance to natural stone and marble, yet with the creative freedom afforded by a multitude of colour pigments. This effect is most commonly used in publishing and book binding, but is also popular to decorate fabric and various surfaces, including human skin.

For the Araldica collection Pepe creates large hypnotic ceramic slabs (ranging from 46x800mm to 1200x2400mm). The marbling technique is used to great effect with ‘plain’ base slabs in five colour combinations which include retro-feel colour contrasts as well as subtle uses of blues and greys.

These base colours are utilised in the two creative decorative styles Triangoli and Blasone where the contrasting colour variants are layered on top of one other to create powerful features. These bold colour juxtapositions are most effective in the geometric forms used in Blasone where 5+ marbled motifs are layered, resulting in something truly magnificent.

The decor elements can be used for a highly impactful feature wall alongside the more subtle base styles. The total collection comprises 13 colours, 5 sizes, matt and shiny finishes, and a thickness of 6mm. The range is both psychedelic and somehow classic, and very, very pleasing to the eye.
