Daltile’s Defend line of tile features Microban technology for superior cleanability.

Dallas, Texas—The number of bathroom remodels substantially increased during 2020, according to a recent member survey conducted by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI).

Bathrooms have now hit the 82% mark alongside kitchens in response to the NARI survey question, “What kinds of remodeling projects does your company frequently perform?” The answer, according to Daltile, is positive news for the tile industry.

“Tile is the very best option for waterproof needs,” said Patrick Warren, vice president of residential sales, dealer and showrooms for Dal-Tile Corporation. “100% waterproof, tile has been, is and always will be the preeminent flooring product for wet areas such as bathrooms and kitchens.”

Warren also said tile is a solid solution for consumers that are now more aware of bacteria on surfaces. “The same non-porous surface that makes tile waterproof also makes it easy to clean and a perfect material to meet the new heightened demand for cleanliness. Because tile is hard and impervious, it is innately resistant to the growth of bacteria, mold and mildew.”

Warren added, “Taking the already superior protection of tile to the next level is Daltile’s Defend powered by Microban collection, launched in April. Daltile’s Defend is a distinct product line of high-performance tile featuring Microban technology that continuously eliminates up to 99% of bacteria on the tile surface.”
