corporate responsibility reportSalem, N.J.—Reflective of its longstanding commitment to be a responsible corporate citizen, Mannington Mills, Inc., issued its first formal Corporate Responsibility Report detailing its environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives. The Report, titled Values in Action, aligns with the company’s core values that have guided its business since its founding in 1915: Care, Do the Right Thing, Control Our Own Destiny and Work Hard/Play Hard.

“Corporate responsibility is not new to us,” said Keith Campbell, chairman of the board. “It’s ingrained in our company’s values that have been passed down from generation to generation. As our first report shows, we have a strong family business that is doing the right thing, not just yesterday and today but for the future.”

In preparing for its first Corporate Responsibility Report, Mannington completed the United Nations Global Compact self-assessment, developed to help companies align strategies and operations with universal principles on human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. The company also committed to zero emissions by 2050 and offset the equivalent of more than 36,000 metric tonnes of CO2e in 2022.

As an early step in its journey and commitment to transparency, Mannington reported the overall carbon, energy, water and waste intensity of its operations. “Intensity data gives us the insights to introduce lasting change to our supply chain, operations, manufacturing processes and products as we work toward our zero emissions goal,” said Shane Totten, director of sustainability.

Other 2022 report highlights include:

  • 58% of open roles were filled by Mannington associates ready to advance in their careers. More than 95% of Mannington’s commercial flooring raw materials were sourced domestically and less than 5% of its total finished commercial products were produced outside the U.S.
  • All residential carpet, sheet vinyl and laminate was manufactured domestically, and the company is increasingly onshoring production to bring manufacturing back to the U.S.
  • As part of its 40-year partnership with Habitat for Humanity, Mannington provided flooring to build new houses for neighbors in need.

“Our vision of stewardship is to add value for our associates and their families, customers and communities,” said Tom Pendley, president and CEO. “Certainly, environmental sustainability is part of this—so are social responsibility and governance. That’s why we’re excited to share and energized to be acting on our evolving corporate responsibility strategy.”
