Tarkett’s Fabricate

Solon, Ohio—Tarkett has launched Fabricate, the latest commercial carpet developed in partnership with menswear designer Jhane Barnes.

Barnes said she developed Fabricate to effectively hide soil and coordinate easily with other flooring selections in the space. Using an innovative design technique she developed and Tarkett patented, Barnes flipped and rotated a series of tiny repeating modules, creating an almost-solid visual. Each six-foot repeat includes more than a thousand rotating motifs, making the overall pattern impossible to find.

To complete the design, Barnes created a palette of neutrals plus some bright pops of color. The Fabricate pattern and color palette were designed to complement Barnes’ other products in the Tarkett portfolio, especially the Blockade and Soundblock series, which use the same color names for easy pairings.

Fabricate is available in Powerbond for quick installation in large spaces or modular tile for smaller areas and creative inserts, creating ideal flooring solutions for office, education and hospitality spaces. Powerbond is a hybrid resilient that is said to be completely impermeable to moisture, wall-to-wall.

Fabricate is also available on Tarkett’s ethos Modular with Omnicoat Technology, a non-PVC backing made from recycled windshields. The Cradle to Cradle Certified backing material has enabled Tarkett to recycle the film from 28.2 million windshields between 2004 and 2019, which kept about 29,000 tons out of landfills. When installed with TarkettTAPE, ethos is said to eliminate the need for moisture testing in most cases.

All Tarkett soft-surface products manufactured in North America include Eco-Ensure soil protection technology, a fluorine-free chemistry that is Cradle to Cradle Certified Platinum for material health. Ethos Modular with Omnicoat Technology is Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver v3 and ILFI Living Product Challenge Imperative Certified.
