Armstrong is offering three digital CEU courses.

Lancaster, Pa.—Armstrong Flooring is offering a series of online continuing education unit courses in April to make it easy for designers to enhance their knowledge and earn CEUs even when in-person sessions aren’t an option.

The sessions–to be led by Armstrong Flooring’s sustainability manager, Amy Costello–are:

The six pillars of sustainability – Thursday, April 2, 2020, 1 p.m. EST
The course reviews flooring through the environmental and social lens of sustainability and explains how the six pillars relate to the health and wellbeing of building occupants. It will also cover the intent and requirements of LEED v4, WELL v1 and Building Codes.

Health, wellness & specifying LVT – Thursday, April 9, 2020, 1 p.m. EST
This course provides insight into specifying luxury vinyl tile that achieves WELL Building Standard Features.

The role of flooring in room acoustics – Thursday, April 16, 2020, 1 p.m. EST
The course describes the fundamental properties of sound and how acoustical design impacts indoor environmental quality (IEQ). The role of acoustics in green building rating systems will be described and examples comparing acoustical design criteria in LEED 2009 and LEED v4 will be reviewed.

For each session, participants can earn 1 GBCI Continuing Education Hour (Health, Wellness and LVT and Six Pillars are WELL Specific), 1 AIA/HSW Learning Unit Credit and 1 IDEC Continuing Education Unit.

Amy Costello

The courses will be led by Costello, a licensed Professional Engineer who holds both a LEED and WELL Accredited Professional certification. She chairs the ASTM Sustainable Manufacturing Sub-Committee and serves on the WELL Material Advisory. Costello is a former member of the board of directors for both ASTM International and United States Green Building Council (USGBC), and she was appointed to serve on the U.S. General Service Administration (GSA) Green Building Advisory Committee from 2014-2016.
