Dalton—The World Floor Covering Association (WFCA) said it has officially begun its nationwide search for an executive director of Certified Floorcovering Installer’s Association (CFI).
Reporting to the WFCA, the executive director will work with the executive leadership of the WFCA and the CFI advisory board to carry out CFI’s mission and develop as well as implement a vision for the future growth and positive impact of CFI on the flooring industry. The position is responsible for strategic planning, resource management, program development, board relations and organizational governance. The job announcement outlines the expectations for the position and the qualifications for those interested in submitting their application for consideration.
Until a new executive director is named, WFCA said its chief executive officer, Scott Humphrey, will serve as the lead for the organization.
The new search comes after Robert Varden, former CFI executive director, stepped down in early March. Varden became CFI’s executive director in 2012, taking the reins from former director, Jim Walker. According to the organization, his 40 years of experience in the flooring industry runs long and deep, as anyone who has worked with the man or been trained by him can attest.
Varden said that although he’d been considering this difficult move for a while, he wanted to stay through the annual installation competition at TISE.
