Colorado Springs, Co.—Starnet Commercial Flooring, the world’s largest network of full-service commercial flooring contractors, revealed the winners of its 2022 Design Awards Competition during a special ceremony here recently. Now in its 24th year, the annual competition honors the outstanding projects completed by Starnet members in partnership with architects, designers and Starnet-aligned manufacturing partners.

“This year we received an incredible lineup of project entries across the network of partners throughout the United States and Canada,” said Mark Bischoff, president and CEO of Starnet. “After two years of wide-ranging challenges—including long lead times, product shortages and a tight labor market—our members continue to showcase their grit, determination and installation excellence as entrepreneurs.”

The 2022 Design Awards were doled out across several bellwether categories: Gold winners were selected by a panel of judges in six categories, including Corporate/Office, Education, Healthcare, Hospitality and Public Spaces, Mixed-Use Developments and Canadian Project of the Year. (Each gold category winner contended for the overall 2022 Starnet Grand Prize award.) Starnet also doled out People’s Choice Winners, which are nominated by Starnet members and preferred vendor partners.

As is customary, the competition judges consisted of a respected panel of architects and designers, including: Cecelia Baumann, project interior design specialist at Gravity Architecture and Design; Jena Kissinger, interior designer, Huntsman Architectural Group; and Rosa G. Salazar, RID, IIDA, ASID, director of interior design at Condray Design Group. Additionally, John McGrath Jr,. executive director of INSTALL, served as honorary judge for the Unique Installation Challenge Award.

“The breadth of the projects delivered this year prove the true value of Starnet—the power of collaboration and partnering with a professional flooring contractor,” Bischoff stated.
