Solon, Ohio—Tarkett will host a webinar and live Q&A session on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. EST. During this webinar, experts will discuss neurodiversity—a term that refers to variation in the human brain regarding sociability, learning, attention, mood and other mental functions—and how workplace design can better support these employees to create truly inclusive workplaces.

“An estimated one in eight people are considered neurodiverse, but less than half are aware of their condition and very few businesses are designing workplaces to accommodate their particular needs,” said Leslie Thompson, director of workplace strategy, Tarkett North America. “Yet people with ADHD, Tourette’s syndrome, dyslexia and autism spectrum disorders are often individuals with a unique perspective on the world, who can help unlock innovation, creativity and big picture thinking in organizations.”

The webinar will feature Kay Sargent, senior principal at global design, architecture, engineering and planning firm HOK. Her colleagues, Sarah Oppenhuizen, principal and director of interiors and Mary Kate Cassidy, senior interior design professional, will also be featured. HOK employs 1,600 people across a network of 23 offices on three continents. The team will be available for a live Q&A after the event.

The webinar will provide insights on:

  • The multi-faceted challenges faced by neurodiverse employees
  • The extraordinary strengths these individuals can bring to the workplace
  • How to navigate conflicting needs such as hypo- and hyper-sensory requirements
  • Practical advice on how to design for inclusivity

The webinar is the latest in a series of insights-driven reports and webinars created and hosted by Tarkett North America. This includes Rethinking the Inclusive Workplace and Rethinking the Dynamic Workplace. Both reports can be found here.
