Tacon DecorWaregem, Belgium—Unilin Technologies, a provider of patents and technologies, has partnered with Tacon Decor, which specializes in coating and laminate options for decorative surfaces.

Unilin Technologies said it developed a wrapping material of laminate quality with Tacon Decor to be used as a finishing surface for skirting boards and other decorative profiles. The material can be applied more easily at higher speed during the wrapping process while still providing the required impact resistance and can be wrapped around corners with minimal radii, according to Unilin Technologies. Less decor paper waste is created in the production of the wrapping material and, therefore, makes it a more ecological choice, the company said.

“Together with Unilin, we were able to develop this product and workflow, which opens up innovative applications for our wrapping products and makes processing in today’s applications much easier,” said José Miguel de la Iglesia, innovation manager at Tacon Decor.

Jasmine Geerinckx, business development manager of Unilin Technologies added, “Our valuable joint effort in the development and implementation of these new technologies, in combination with our extensive expertise in intellectual property management and our worldwide IP licensing network, will certainly be very beneficial to both companies. We are delighted to add this technology into our patent portfolio and are looking forward to license this out worldwide.”
