Valinge Flooring Greenguard GoldViken, Sweden—Välinge Flooring Hardened Wood Floors featuring Woodura surface technology has achieved Greenguard Gold certification.

Greenguard Gold certified products are required to meet stringent industry standards and emission limits for indoor use—meaning Välinge Flooring Greenguard Gold-certified floors do not emit significant chemical compounds into the air, providing peace of mind to retailers and consumers that the floors are low-emitting and contribute to healthier indoor air quality, the company said.

“We’re extremely proud to receive a GreenGuard Gold certification for our Hardened Wood Floors—together with our FSC certification it shows the market that we have a revolutionary product that’s both environmentally friendly to produce and extremely safe for consumers,” said Zach Adams, general manager, Välinge North America.

On top of limiting emissions of more than 360 volatile organic compounds (VOC) and total chemical emissions, Välinge said its floors now also comply with requirements of the state of California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Standard Method for the Testing and Evaluation of Volatile Organic Chemical Emissions from Indoor Sources Using Environmental Chambers—also known as California Section 01350.

The Greenguard Gold certificate is further proof of the floor’s green credentials—having already been awarded an FSC certification, and with Woodura offering a significantly more sustainable use of lumber that increases the production yield ten-fold compared to standard wood flooring—while recycling all waste back into the manufacturing process, the company said.

“At Välinge we’re fully committed to offering our consumers a revolutionary real wood floor with all our latest innovations—but that’s not all, we want to do it in a way that has a low impact on our planet and is safe for people to enjoy,” Adams said. “This certification is another stamp of approval and a sign that we are doing things right.”
