Mohawk unveils plans for Design Forward virtual summit

HomeCommercialMohawk unveils plans for Design Forward virtual summit

Calhoun, Ga.—Mohawk Group will host a free, three-day digital event aimed to inspire attendees and build off the momentum of the NeoConnect platform. The Design Forward virtual summit, styled as DesignFWD, marks Mohawk Group’s first online event of its kind.

The virtual summit will take place exclusively through an interactive platform July 15–17. The programming was developed in the wake of the cancellation of North America’s largest design exposition and conference for commercial interior design professionals.

“Because we knew we couldn’t be together in Chicago at NeoCon this year, we wanted to create a meaningful way we could still unite together in spirit and in purpose,” said Jackie Dettmar, Mohawk Group’s vice president of design and product development. “Our team has created a wonderful lineup of curated events for the immediate path that lies ahead, providing us with the needed connection and inspiration to move design forward.”

Digital event to highlight ‘A new path forward’

DesignFWD’s inaugural theme is “A New Path Forward,” which includes directions for summer and fall 2020. It also includes a look ahead to 2021 through the lens of interactive content. Digital roundtables, webinars, podcasts and other media will connect three distinct but interwoven paths: people, sustainability and product.

Throughout the year, Mohawk Group will be showcasing its systems thinking approach to design as part of its new path forward. According to the company, this notion creates a holistic framework to offer products that create pathways, transitions and accent areas. The underlying commitment is especially important in an era that puts more emphasis on sustainably designing for distance with visual cues that give end users guidance on how to maneuver within the commercial built environment.

“The path to better design and sustainability begins with community,” added Dettmar. “DesignFWD brings us together for these three days to share conversations with established and up-and-coming A&D colleagues, our latest product stories, groundbreaking CEUs and trend talks, culminating in a charge for our community to keep up the transformational work in the world of contract design until we can be reunited face to face.”

Visualization tools lead the way

As part of the summit, Mohawk Group will also be highlighting its new innovative p.s. (Personal Studio) visualization tool. P.s. helps customers create their own paths to better design with a digital platform that allows specifiers to customize running line flooring products with enhanced coloring capabilities, as well as visualize them in multiple room scenes and installation patterns. Outputs include digital, paper and physical samples of the chosen designs.

While the event will be broadcast live through the official platform, all webinars, podcasts, presentations and other content will be archived for registered users to reference at their convenience between the event’s close and NeoCon 2021.
