Striking columns of deep blue ceramic tiles coat the facade of the Hong Kong boutique store of Swiss luxury watchmaker and jeweller Piaget.
Designed by Chinese architecture firm Neri&Hu, Piaget’s storefront was created to honour the brand’s dedication to craftsmanship as well as the historic wharf area of Kowloon. Two main elements of the facade make reference to Kowloon’s historical importance in trade and culture – the metal-work represents the city’s industrial past whilst the ceramic tiles, from China, represent exchange.
Manufactured in Jingdezhen, a city with over 1,000 years of porcelain-crafting heritage, these tiles speak of the craftsmanship within the store by demonstrating it across the exterior.
These presence of the towering columns of rich blue offer calm amongst the bustling luxury retail area of Canton Road, offering an oasis for shoppers.
