J+J Flooring launches Mirror Image

Mirror ImageDalton—J+J Flooring introduced Mirror Image—a collection that translates and transforms four familiar J+J textile patterns into Kinetex, their proprietary textile composite flooring. The new collection will provide an easy transition for those that traditionally gravitate toward carpet, according to the company.

Kinetex is designed to combine the benefits of a soft surface with the performance attributes of hard-surface products. The face fiber is an abrasion- and ravel-resistant knitted fabric that is thermally fused to a cushioned polyester felt backing.

“We wanted the die-hard carpet fans to give the groundbreaking Kinetex a look,” said Marie Moore, design manager-Kintex and LVT for J+J Flooring. “So, this was a no brainer.”

Comprised of Carbon Copy, Reflections, Parallels and Renewal, the Mirror Image collection offers a wide range of pattern size, concentration of pattern and scale with graphics that utilize High-Def Color Technology to trick the eye into seeing more tufted, textured looks. The four offerings are also grouped by color families of beige, warm grey, cool grey and blue neutrals.

“When we go out into the field and talk to designers, they tell us that with the hybrid work schedule many are on now, their libraries have to be mobile or very limited in scale,” Moore said. “So, we created one book and collection they can grab to easily specify. We’ve tried to do all the leg work for them.”

Maintenance is said to be more cost-efficient than other hard surfaces as the lightweight face construction retains less water, drying 75% faster than carpet, making it suitable for cleaning while occupied. A bleach-resistant wear layer allows for easy sanitizing and spot cleaning that doesn’t affect color while the surface traps airborne particles like common allergens, irritants and contaminants, taking them out of the breathing zone and closer to the floor until they can be cleaned.

When compared to VCT, rubber and carpet, Kinetex has the highest percentage of sound absorption (30%) of airborne noise, as well as amount of structure-borne noise at 60 dB absorbed, according to the company. Kinetex is also said to be the first wall-to-wall interior floor covering to be certified as a High Traction Surface by the National Floor Safety Institute (NFSI).

Kinetex is made with 45% post-consumer recycled content, each tile containing the equivalent of 27 used water bottles. Kinetex is a carbon neutral product thanks to the purchase of carbon offsets, calculated based on 100% of the A1-A3 GWP values reported publicly in their third-party verified Environmental Production Declarations (EPD) for all annual Kinetex production. Kinetex also has a Red List Free Declare label.
