HomeNewsObituary: Marvin Youngerman, 93

Marvin Youngerman, former floor covering executive at Columbus Mills and Bruce Hardwood, died Jan. 22. He was 93.

Youngerman’s floor covering career spanned well over 50 years before retiring as vice president of sales for Columbus Mills. His first sales position was with Colonial Distributors in Brooklyn, N.Y. After learning his craft, he joined the Monarch division of Barwick Carpet Mills covering the New York metro area. He later went to work at West Point Pepperel /Cabin Craft in Dalton before moving to Dallas to become president of Bruce Hardwood. Missing the soft surface side of the business, he returned to Georgia to complete his career at Columbus.

Youngerman’s legacy was a generous heart, strong sense of family and a sharp wit and sense of humor that always brought a smile to everyone he encountered.
Youngerman is survived by his wife, Arlene; three children, Steven, Marcia and Erika Pfeiffer; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Eli and Sadie Youngerman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to the Alzheimer’s Association: act.alz.org.
