Välinge Innovation, the inventor of click flooring and maker of the popular 5G and Threespine click technologies, is taking the wraps off its first branded flooring product under the name Välinge Flooring.

The innovative flooring line is manufactured using Valinge’s Woodura surface technology. The product is made by fusing a thin sheet of real wood with a wood fiber core through a powder mix layer. How it works: The powder mix fills the natural openings of the wood, thereby enhancing the wood’s appearance while increasing its overall strength and durability. On top of that, the new line features Valinge’s 5G fold-down locking system and includes the company’s 5G Dry waterproof technology.

“We are an innovative company and have over the years put our many game changers on the market for other companies to license,” said Niclas Håkansson, CEO of Välinge Innovation, citing a host of technologies such as 2G, 5G, Threespine, 5G Climb, Actio2, Nadura and Woodura, among others. “For us, creating a product that contains several of our unique innovations was a natural next step to take. I dare say, it might be the best work we have done so far.”

Innovative flooring line built to last

Valinge’s new floor is produced in Viken, Sweden, in a state-of-the-art flooring factory boasting an annual production capacity of 50 million square feet. The raw material for the wood face layer comes from Välinge’s sister company, Bjelin, in Croatia.

“If you want a real wood floor with the aesthetics and feel of real wood, but without the weakness of traditional hardwood floors, a Woodura-enhanced floor is the way to go,” Håkansson said. “The Woodura technology creates a floor that is three to five times stronger than many other hardwood floors, resulting in improved indent resistance. The floor is so strong that it is possible to use in light commercial applications without sacrificing the look and feel.”

User-friendly format in trendy styles

In keeping with U.S. consumer demands for wider/longer planks, Välinge Flooring is available in sizes up to 11 inches wide x 8 inches long. Likewise, the colors and species utilized in the collection are designed to reflect the tastes of American consumers.

“Whether you want to give your room a contemporary, vintage or industrial character, the 11 colorways in ash, walnut and oak will give you the design that you want,” said Emanuel Lindberg, head of design at Välinge. “We have developed a great first collection for the U.S. market and are especially proud of our capability to produce XXL planks that everyone can afford.”

Välinge Flooring will primarily be sold via distributors and online in the U.S. market. Suggested retail price range is $5-$5.49 per square foot. “We are very eager to present this product to the market, and we are convinced others will see the many advantages it has compared to a traditional wood floor,” said Zach Adams, general manager, North America.
