online curriculumLaGrange, Ga.—The Resilient Floor Covering Institute (RFCI) recently added a new continuing education course to its online curriculum that educates on the certification, declarations and eco-labels for sustainability and health and wellness. The addition of this course makes a total of four now available.

Titled “Resilient Flooring: Verified & Certified,” this AIA, IDCEC and GBCI accredited course from RFCI’s online curriculum is designed to help anyone involved in specifying or selling resilient flooring understand that sustainable certifications and declarations are not all the same.

“The professional will learn how to identify product eco-labels and declarations that are included within the resilient flooring product category,” stated Jane Rohde, technical consultant for RFCI. “They will also be able to identify usable data provided within the certifications and eco-labels to make informed sustainable product selections.”

Finding products and creating a project on ecomedes material database that supports documentation required for LEED v4.1 BD+C / ID+C and Green Globes building rating systems is also included in the course.

“The importance of third-party verified product certifications and declarations cannot be stressed enough,” said Bill Blackstock, president and CEO of RFCI. “Environmental impacts, health and wellness impacts and social impacts are now part of the consideration set in flooring selection and specification.”
