Port Clinton, Ohio—Barrington Carpet & Flooring Design, headquartered in Green, Ohio, has acquired Young’s Carpet One Floor & Home, located here. The acquisition was finalized on Jan. 4, 2021.

Barrington Carpet, originally established in 1978 as Design Carpet Warehouse, serves Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Michigan and Eastern Indiana and specializes in new construction, custom builder, retail, commercial and multi-family floor coverings. It is a charter member of the Mohawk Floorscapes program and a recipient of the 2018 Mohawk Edge Retailer of the Year award.

The acquisition follows up the company’s acquisition of Carpet Country of Twinsburg, Ohio, which took place in January 2019. Barrington’s president, Craig Phillips, said, “Young’s is positioned as a market leader with an experienced staff and loyal customers. With the acquisition of Young’s, our family of companies is positioned to serve our diverse customer base throughout Ohio and neighboring states for years to come.”

The 65-year-old Young’s Carpet One Floor & Home said it will continue to operate as such. Pete Spieldenner will be staying on as store manager. “This merger will only serve to strengthen Young’s both today and in the future,” he said. “My team here looks forward to expanding our product line and continuing to provide quality customer service.”
