Karndean adds augmented reality to Floorstyle design tool

Export, Pa.–Karndean Designflooring has made recent updates to its Floorstyle room visualizer—designed for homeowners and retailers to digitally explore more than 150 luxury vinyl flooring choices, lay patterns and design possibilities—including a new “view in room” feature.

By using view in room, retail sales associates and homeowners can turn a photograph of a room into a rendering of a completed Karndean Designflooring installation. Consumers can also use the feature at home before visiting a retailer.

“We know the majority of residential projects are refurbishments,” said Jenne Ross, director of marketing. “Providing consumers the opportunity to see what our floors will look like in their own space helps RSAs to close sales faster by instilling confidence in the consumer.”

To use the tool, users can upload a photo, select a floor from the company’s full catalog of LVT visuals, choose a lay pattern and add a design strip, if desired. Pattern choices range from herringbone to striped and the tool can blend up to four different colors within one design. The optional addition of a design strip between planks and tiles creates a grouted look. Additional features include a split-screen to compare designs side-by-side, the ability to save “favorites,” request product samples and print or share to social media.

As with the previous version of Floorstyle, users may opt to choose from among 34 room scene images in which to lay their flooring selections. Floorstyle is accessible for free via desktop computer, tablet or mobile device.
