Dalton—Shaw Industries Group, Inc. (Shaw) said it plans to shift production capacity from Plant 23 here, which produces residential carpet, to other state-of-the-art Shaw facilities in northwest Georgia that have expanded capabilities and newer equipment.

According to the company, moving operations to these existing Shaw facilities will allow for more efficient operations and allow Shaw to more fully utilize its facilities with broader capabilities while meeting ever changing customer demands.

The consolidation process will begin immediately, with operations ceasing at Plant 23 by the end of May. The approximately 275 associates currently employed at the facility, the company said, will have the opportunity to apply for open positions available at Shaw’s other locations. The company operates more than 65 facilities throughout northwest Georgia including manufacturing, distribution centers and other operations.

“The associates at Plant 23 have been instrumental in creating exceptional quality products,” said Mark Hartline, vice president of human resources at Shaw. “As the consolidation process begins, Shaw’s human resources team will assist them with internal job opportunities and one-on-one consultations with Shaw’s talent management team. Supporting associates during this transition is our highest priority.”
