Sims-Lohman Acquires Werthan Granite
CINCINNATI – Kitchen-constructor supplier Sims-Lohman announced the acquisition of Nashville-based Werthan Granite yesterday. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
The move now gives Sims-Lohman 20 sales showroom locations across six states.
The acquisition also means that Sims-Lohman, one of the country’s larger kitchen-cabinet and hard-surfaces-countertop providers, will operate five granite- and quartz-countertop manufacturing plants.
“We entered the Tennessee markets of Nashville and Knoxville and the Huntsville, Ala., market with our cabinet offerings in 2015 and have had tremendous success in growing these southern markets at a 20+% pace each year since,” said John Beiersdorfer, Sims-Lohman president. “Werthan Granite provides our Southern Region a missing piece of the puzzle with a first-class granite and quartz countertop fabrication operation that can serve both our Tennessee and Alabama markets.
“In addition, Werthan has a solid surface operation serving commercial customers and a tile component. We are very excited to welcome Werthan’s team members and customers to the Sims-Lohman family.”
Werthan Granite has 44 employees and generated more than $5 million in sales last year.
Werthan Granite is the latest business operated by members of the Werthan family in Nashville, whose commercial roots stretch to the late 19th century in the bag-manufacturing business. Jeremy Werthan entered the granite business in 2002, and merged with his brother Michael’s Werthan Tile in 2011.
According to a company statements, Sims-Lohman, founded in 1971, fabricates 15,000+ granite countertops while providing the cabinetry for more than 40,000 new kitchens annually. The Cincinnati company posted $125 million in sales last year with a workforce of 470 employees.
