Salem, N.J.—Mannington Mills partnered with the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) to support the Gary Sinise Foundation’s R.I.S.E. program, which builds specially adapted smart homes for severely wounded veterans. Mannington donated Park City hardwood flooring for a new home built for U.S. Marine (Ret.) Josue Barron, who lost his left leg and left eye in an IED explosion during his first deployment to Afghanistan.

Mannington’s Park City hardwood flooring is featured throughout Barron’s home.

In the 11 years that followed Barron’s injury, it became increasingly clear that the Marine (now retired and a husband and father of three) needed a home customized to his physical needs so he could move forward with life in a more independent way, Mannington said. The R.I.S.E. program has made that possible with the completion of the new Temecula, Calif., home.

“Mannington’s Park City hardwood flooring is ideal for this home because it creates a continuous, durable surface that makes for easy wheelchair navigation and whole-house access,” said Dan Natkin, vice president, hardwood and laminate, Mannington. “The members of our military and their families make many sacrifices through their service. Mannington was pleased to help with the home of this veteran and his family.”
