Tapioca Starch Enhances Mortar Strength and Durability

Researchers investigated the impact of tapioca starch (TP) on cement mortar, finding that optimal TP content improved early compressive strength, bond strength, and shrinkage resistance. While TP increased mortar viscosity and delayed setting times, it enhanced durability by reducing carbonation and chloride ion penetration, making it a promising additive for repair mortars.

NAFCD, NBMDA annual convention supports give-back initiatives

Multifamily developer confidence falls in second quarter

Washington, D.C.—Multifamily developer confidence declined year-over-year in the second quarter, according to results from the Multifamily Market Survey (MMS) released today by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). The MMS produces two separate indices. The Multifamily Production Index (MPI) had a reading of 44, down 12 points year-over-year, while the Multifamily Occupancy Index (MOI) had a reading of 81, down eight points year-over-year.
