Profit MattersDalton—World Floor Covering Association (WFCA) will hold the second installment of its “Profit Matters: Financial Benchmarking to Boost Your Bottom Line” webinar series on Nov. 2, at 2 p.m. ET.

Steve Abernathy, CFO of the WFCA, kicked off the virtual series sharing financial benchmarking tools to help floor covering retailers improve the operational and financial management of their business on August 16. Using research results provided by RFMS, Inc. that includes aggregated data from more than 1,000 retail locations throughout the U.S. and Canada, Abernathy provides business leaders a step-by-step playbook on how to maximize profitability of their business. He also focuses on key areas including improved expense ratios, margins, staffing and more.

“Benchmarking is an important tool to ensure your business is financially sound as possible and operating at maximum efficiency,” said Freida Staten, vice president marketing, communications and membership, WFCA. “Steve’s expertise with annual budget projections, ongoing performance monitoring and tactical decision making will be invaluable to owners that want to take a deeper look at the financial structure of their businesses and lay the groundwork for success in 2021.”

The second webinar in the series, to be held Nov. 2, will examine gross margins in detail and illustrate the impact they have on the bottom line.

Topics will include:

  • Margin vs. markup
  • Formulas and calculations
  • How to set prices from cost
  • Labor and gross margins
  • Margin leaks and how to control them

The complimentary webinar will start promptly at 2 p.m. EST, be recorded and posted on the WFCA website for those who are unable to join the live session.
