Las Vegas—Durkan Mohawk Group Hospitality will return to HD Expo, held here, in 2023 with a fresh suite of products including a new mega collection, a brand refresh and an overall focus on the “Emergent Thinking” theme for the company this year through the lens of hospitality.

“At Mohawk Group, the team believes all design can serve the greater good,” explained Jackie Dettmar, vice president of marketing, design and product development. “We’re developing products that help people answer the challenges faced by our world today— influenced by natural, digital and built environments that empower users’ work to make a positive impact. Through design, we’re turning what we imagine into action—and emerging toward a future that is more secure, healthy and just for all.”

Following are the new-for-2023 products that will be on display at HD Expo, May 2–4, here at Mandalay Bay.

DurkanMycotopia

Inspired by the hidden structures of mushrooms and their ecological importance, Mycotopia explores the sense of well-being and connection that nature provides. The 16 meditative patterns from the collection provide warmth and organic beauty, with an ease in ability to personalize each individual project. Creatively conscious, Mycotopia provides sophisticated patterns for telling a design story.

Artwork inspired by Mycotopia was commissioned by Connie Avery, an artist with ArtLifting, a Better Together partnership. Avery’s art reflects her experiences, her family and her vision. She lives with retinitis pigmentosa and Usher syndrome, diseases that progressively reduce her ability to see and hear. “I love the colors, movements and stories in art,” she said. “I love the joy, surprises, feelings and emotions that come from creating art.”

Durkan director of design, Arnavaz Barshan, added that the Mycotopia collection allows you to “transform your space into a world of organic wonder.” The design possibilities are vast with this unprecedented launch and Durkan said it is excited to unveil Mycotopia to the hospitality design community.

Art Alliance

Inspired by community, resilience and inclusion, the Art Alliance carpet collection from Durkan Mohawk Group Hospitality integrates the work of six artists, each of which are members of the ArtLifting community. The collection’s 20 broadloom patterns derive inspiration from these artists’ original works. A combination of organic textures and geometric motifs are layered, integrated and abstracted to create a contemporary, cohesive pattern portfolio.

When asked what Art Alliance represents to her, Barshan said, “Effortless sophistication with a truly luxurious aesthetic is how I would describe the collection.”

Art Alliance combines Durkan’s Weldlok backing with Colorstrand fiber to deliver broadloom for an array of public space and private hospitality interiors, with lasting performance, cleanability and sustainability. The collection is Beyond Carbon Neutral for a net-positive impact in carbon. Art Alliance supports Mohawk’s sustainability efforts and commitment to Net Zero carbon emissions by 2040, sustaining a better ecological community.

Second Home Studio

Second Home Studio is a familiar favorite that serves as a functional collection with basic but aesthetically pleasing designs, according to Durkan. This commercial-grade rigid click LVT with attached pad helps to create the quietest spaces resilient flooring can provide, mimicking the peace and quiet found at home.

“Our Second Home Studio collection is designed with simplistic beauty in mind,” Barshan explained. “It’s offered in a wide variety of color schemes for ultimate flexibility.”
