Chattanooga, Tenn.—The Dixie Group (TCG) has hired James Bourgeois as vice president of senior living for commercial brands including Masland Contract and Atlas, effective immediately. In this new role, Bourgeois will leverage his knowledge and experience to position Masland Contract and Atlas as the leaders in all aspects of senior care with their broad range of resilient and soft surface commercial flooring.

“The senior living segment is very important to the long-term growth of our company,” said David Hobbs, president, TDG Commercial. “Our aging population is demanding increased quality of appointments in the senior living facilities they invest in. Hospitality and senior living segments are becoming nearly indistinguishable in their styling. As such, we feel we have a tremendous opportunity with the range of products both Masland Contract and Atlas have to offer this segment providing great growth potential. James will play a valuable role in expanding our senior living opportunities.”

Bourgeois has spent the last several years as vice president of healthcare for Tarkett. His scope focused on senior living owners/owner operators, owner groups, major acute groups and leading national healthcare architectural and design firms. He is also the co-author of Tarkett’s CEU presentation, Flooring for Healthcare—An Evidence Based Design (EBD) Approach.

Bourgeois has also spent the past twenty years in the manufacturing side of the interiors contract furnishings floor covering industry. He has extensive experience in all aspects of commercial flooring and has served as a board member for the USGBC Louisiana Chapter.
