The last batch of these beautiful tiles came out of the kiln today. Ill post another pic. when they are installed. This emerald green glaze is a new one for us; like many great creations it came from an "accident" in glaze mixing.

'Tile with a rectified edge, also known as rectified tile, is an excellent product for achieving a clean, thin, tight grout joint. Thin grout joints is a great benefit because it is less grout that will become dirty, which is less grout that has to be cleaned! A rectified tile achieves a modern, contemporary look and overall is a higher end tile. Rectified tile is made differently than average ceramic or porcelain tile.

'At this point everyone has heard about the Stimulus Package and all the arguments that go along with it. Though the package itself has received plenty of press, the details it seems, have not. One of those little talked about details is the impact of the Stimulus Package on Remodeling. Through the new Stimulus Package, Energy Tax Credits have been expanded to provide financial incentive for utilizing energy efficient products during a home remodeling project.

Here is the songbird plate, fresh out of the kiln! ( Here it is before firing) Im really pleased with the way it came out - I love the contrast of the clarity of the lines in the illustration with the rough, rustic look of the white glaze.

Today the early morning sun was pouring in the studio clerestorey windows, and it almost felt like Spring. Here is that beautiful sunlight illuminating my worktable. Between tile jobs I like to do little creative experiments like this Songbird Plate, shown ready for firing.

A client gave me a handful of beautiful shells she had gathered on Jeju Island (a subtropical island off the south coast of Korea), and asked me to do something with them for her powder room back splash.

' . Burgin Construction Team Member Eddy Valencia is proud to announce the birth of his first baby boy! Eduardo Valencia Jr. was born on Monday, January 16, 2009 at 1:00 pm weighing 7 lbs and 12 oz. Mother and Baby are both healthy and doing wonderfully and are expected to be going home soon. We want to wish the family all the best and would like to thank all of our readers for sharing in this special time. .
