'I just returned from the annual tile industry management conference. While it’s about as exciting as it sounds, I return every year for the networking and education. In years past, the education on greenbuilding has been pretty elementary, but this year Bill Griese gave an excellent, in-depth presentation on tile’s role in sustainable construction.

'We have some new Peruvian listellos coming in a couple weeks (they are scheduled to be in around Dec. 10). There are two (the Chimbote and Huancayo) that are similar to the Peruvian listellos we currently carry, but are made from a different onyx that has more black and brown in it. I really like this new stone!! The Arequipa is made from the old Peruvian onyx- but in new shapes- more like pebbles or stones.

'I was trying to find a hotel for our trip to Altanta next week (to visit the new store!) and came across these great bathrooms in the Loews Hotel Atlana. They are contemporary but warm. I love the dark brown walls and the crisp white moulding. Take a look at the tile. At first glance it looks like all of it is stone.but if you look behind the mirrors- they installed some white subway tile.

'Here are some cool tile patterns. The first is from Tara in Grand Rapids. It''s a floor border design from Hugo''s Frog Bar in Naperville, Il. I like the two contrasting colors together and the sort of wave pattern they make- thanks Tara! I like the mosaic pattern on these bathroom walls.this must have taken a long time, but is totally worth it: I love this outdoor walkway- again a very intricate pattern.

'I really like this kitchen renovation from apartmenttherapy. They turned an outdated space into a current and good looking one! Looks like they simply painted the cabinets, retiled the counters and backsplash, changed the floor, and repainted the walls. Take a look at the white subway tiles.our Imperial Bianco 3 x 6 would look great in a redo like this- especially with one of the new listellos!!

'I just got back from a trip to Arizona.what a beautiful state! I wanted to share some "architectural" highlights of the trip with you: First up, my visit to Taliesin West. This is the personal winter home, studio and architectural campus for Frank Lloyd Wright- located in Scottsdale. It was started in 1937 and took about 20 years to complete. Frank Lloyd Wright is considered by many to be the 20th century''s greatest architect- his designs were so innovative at the time.

'I have gotten alot of inquiries into the tub shields that I use in the stores. Here is some information. They are from MTI (mtiwhirlpools.com) and we purchase them through ferguson. They start around $800 and go up into the thousands. They are clean and classy- and can create illusion of more space because they are glass. The two I use the most are: Nordic Series- with one fixed and one hinged panel: The Solo shift- one single hinged panel: These are some other MTI glass enclosure that I like:
