BOLON by Patricia UrquiolaUlricehamn, Sweden—Bolon, a Swedish design company that makes innovative flooring solutions for public spaces, introduced its collaboration with renowned architect and designer, Patricia Urquiola. Bolon by Patricia Urquiola was the result of years of admiration for the Spanish doyenne of design, Urquiola said. The collection is an ideal flooring solution for office spaces, hotels or other areas with room for crafted details.

While working on the collection, Urquiola said she found a resemblance between the weaving technique of Bolon flooring and the Japanese tradition of Sashiko stitches. According to Bolon, the collection boasts soft colors, characteristic stitching details and patch-like patterns.

“When we started to work on this collection, we wanted to give the flooring a more authentic feel,” Urquiola said. “We wanted to communicate coziness, a feeling of warmth and Sashiko came up as the leading concept for the collection.”

Bolon by Patricia Urquiola consists of one design in four colorways: Nude Sashiko, Grey Sashiko, Light Sashiko and Sage Sashiko. The flooring, made in Sweden, comes in rolls, contains recycled material, is easy to maintain, has a high-performance classification 33 Heavy commercial and a 15-year warranty.

“The collection is a great complement to our existing range and we are proud to add Patricia to our portfolio of Bolon friends,” said Annica Eklund, chief creative officer at Bolon.
