"Cool New Laminate Flooring Designs"

How to Floor Tile

Because of the nature of this business I have the opportunity of visiting numerous design stores on a regular basis. I happened to visit a new Floor And Decor that recently opened in The Colony Texas. On the left is an example of some attractive weathered wood that in reality has an almost bluish tint. This application was on the walls but it would look great on floors as it was intended too.

Shhhh. quietly gearing up for the year ahead

Heath Ceramics

Peek into our Sausalito and San Francisco factories this week between Christmas and New Year, and you’ll notice that something’s different. First off, it’s quieter. No sounds of kilns and dryers. No beeping of forklifts. No sounds of glaze being sprayed on tiles and dinnerware. Next, the eagle-eyed Heath fan might notice that things aren’t in their usual orderly positions with neatly demarcated corridors and open spaces.

It's Hard To Go Wrong With A Laser

How to Floor Tile

It's OK to cheat when you are trying to make a straight line for any type of flooring. There are several ways to mark a straight line but all have a potential problem. The proverbial chalk line is great but you run the risk of tracking blue or red chalk all over or it gets swept up in the cleaning process when yo are less than half done. A black Sharpie works OK for a short time but the tip wears into oblivion rather quickly.

A Little Red for the Holidays

The Perfect Bath

I have had an enthusiastic response to my posts about color, so I thought I would continue with this black, white and red powder bath. It is definitely a bold statement for a small space, especially since the ceiling has been covered in a graphic patterned wallpaper. Red lacquer is a vote of decorating confidence. In this case there is a nod to a Chinese influence with the square pulls.

How a Cleaning Chart may Keep Your Household Sane

Stagetecture

Have you thought about a cleaning chart ? What I find is the hardest part about keeping a home clean with multiple people is for everyone to do “their part”! In my household of two teenage sons, a 5 year old daughter, a husband and a cat, it always seems like no one wants to take responsibility for cleaning up! I’m sure this is true with college roommates, and anyone else who has to share a living space with other people.

Exhibit: Architecture in Palestine during the British Mandate (1917-1948)

Life of an Architect

While I was in Israel this summer, I was fortunate enough to get a sneak peek into an architectural exhibit that was about to open at the Israel Museum that focused on the architecture of Palestine, before the state of Israel became a state. During the period of the British Mandate (1917 – 1948) a generation of architects, displaced by the Russian Revolution of 1905 and the dislocations following World War 1, immigrated to Palestine with the promise of a new beginning, bringing modernist &
