One Day to GiveDalton—The Floor Covering Industry Foundation (FCIF) hosted its inaugural “One Day to Give,” a 24-hour online fundraising drive, on Thursday, June 2. During the campaign, the non-profit said it received nearly $80K in donations, which exceeded its goal for the event.

“Over 25% of these donations came from “first time” donors,” said Andrea Blackbourn, the foundation’s executive director. “Among donors who renewed past contributions, 25% accepted the +10% challenge. These results are very exciting and we are looking forward to repeating this event in the future.”

One Day to Give united the floor covering industry to make a lasting impact on families faced with unexpected medical battles who need help getting back on their feet, according to the organization. FCIF is a 501(c)3 charitable non-profit that has been assisting floor covering workers and their families since 1981. The organization provides a way for the industry to “take care of its own” by providing financial assistance grants to those who are struggling with severe illnesses, injuries and disabilities.

“The goal of One Day to Give was to increase the awareness of FCIF while also, of course, encouraging donations from individuals within the flooring industry.” said Jeanne Matson, FCIF board member and industry consultant. “The results of this first event were excellent and achieved both goals.”
