Retailers React: Which parts of your business are flourishing?

HomeFeatured PostRetailers React: Which parts of your business are flourishing?

Business growthEvery two weeks, FCNews seeks out flooring retailers across the country to offer their advice on hot topics of the day. This week we asked: Which parts of your business are flourishing?

Here are their responses:

The commercial part of our business remains strong. Jobs still in the pipeline from COVID-19 are keeping our crews very busy.

—Mike Foulk, Foulk’s Flooring America, Meadville, Pa.

What has maintained a steady growth trajectory is the superior flooring we source from Europe. Despite the economic contraction, those with the inclination to invest in quality are actually reaching higher. An example of that would be the Bottega Legna collection of engineered hardwood from Spain.

—Francisco Monet Conjejo Hardwoods, Westlake Village, Calif.

Our residential business is still seeing some great projects in bathroom remodels—custom shower installs, etc.—and vinyl plank flooring. These bathroom remodel projects have been a nice niche for our business since the beginning of 2020.

—Carlton Billingsley, Floors and More, Benton, Ark.

Our focus has shifted the last couple weeks due to Hurricane Ian. Residential removal and replacement have us buried right now. The retirement center portion of our business has been the biggest gainer this year.

—Mike Montgomery, Montgomery’s CarpetPlus ColorTile, Venice Fla.

One part of our business that is still strong is builder work; however, this is lagging due to the cycle of the build process. Commercial business seems the same.

—Tom Heffner, About All Floors, Douglassville, Pa.
