One of the booths I enjoyed visiting in my last (free) day at Cersaie , Italy’s annual bathware and tile show, was Villeroy & Boch. As their products are widely available in the US, I was somewhat familiar with the brand. Founded in 1748 in Germany as a ceramics company, they might be best known here as a tableware manufacturer. They’re much more, and their booth showed that well.

North London Victorian Gets Modern Addition

Walker Bushe Architects designed this remodel to a Victorian home in Brondesbury, North London. An adjoining site was incorporated into the design of this addition, bringing this corner plot home to 236 square meters, double its original volume. The design between the old and the new is demarcated by a dark grey rendered panel; this also serves as the new entrance to both old and new wings of the building.

The house was built in Sant Cugat del Vallès, a historic neighborhood of Barcelona, Spain. Designed and constructed by Josep Ferrando in 2014, the limitations on the project were clear before construction broke ground. First, the ground for the project was deeply uneven, with the plot located between two streets of completely different heights. The lot is hemmed in by other buildings on either side, making the usable ground no wider than 5 meters in some places.
