Bathroom Sample Photos From Tile Shop

How to Floor Tile

I like to see displays of tile in bathroom. It appears there is a lot of Marble and more metal trim these days and I have made my opinion known about these products. With regard to Marble, it is earthy, beautiful, can be a real pain to install, easy to mill and polish, easy to scratch and dent, and I would be reluctant to use it in a shower as the primary surface because is it so soft.

Freshome Design & Architecture Magazine

This welcoming Scandinavian apartment is located in the heart of Gothenburg, Sweden, on the third floor of a heritage building. Much of the original turn-of-the-century charm is preserved in the form of high ceilings, wood flooring, profiled moldings, ceiling medallions and cast iron radiators. The hallway that greets you as you step inside this three-room apartment seems comfortably large, thanks to its white walls and bright tiled flooring.

Fireplace Décor During the Summer

Conestoga Tile Blog

Many homes are fortunate enough to have a fireplace. This is great for a cozy feeling in your living space in the winter months but is often ignored for the remainder of the year. This doesn’t mean you still can’t use the space to create something beautiful that will contribute to your home’s design. Since the fireplace will be used at some point, it is important that all decor be removable and easy to clean.

Pick Your Fights

Life of an Architect

There are times when I really hate passionately dislike some of the contractors I work with. Luckily it doesn’t happen too often – I can only think of a handful of those moments over the past 25 years, but when I step back and widen my view, those moments tend to happen with the same contractor ( i.e. if I have 20 bad moments, 2 contractors are responsible for 15 of those moments) , or at least the same type of contractor.

Gimme [Bomb] Shelter

KB Culture

This late-1950s fallout shelter—dubbed the 'Kidde Kokoon'—had none of the comforts of home. The kitchen was basically a can opener, as there was no refrigerator or stove [this predated the microwave, with its irony-laden 'nuking' capabilities]. Lacking showers, sinks, or baths, hygiene was achieved with a sponge and bottled water. Absent plumbing, chemical toilets were available—or a bucket.

Old Farmstead in the UK Becomes Sustainable Family Home

Freshome Design & Architecture Magazine

Van Ellen + Sheryn Architects transformed and extended an 18th century farmstead in Dartmoor National Park, UK, into a sustainable family home, well-adapted to the surrounding wooded landscape. A series of incoherent 1950s extensions were demolished to better emphasize the main barn-style buildings on the plot. The old milking parlor to the west of the farmhouse and barn were redesigned to provide generous accommodation options.
