Color It Up!

Architectural Ceramics

'I was looking through several tile images to find the perfect photo for our upcoming Home & Design Magazine AD. I was catching up on new product from one of my favorite brands, New Ravenna, where I came across a golden yellow glass waterjet mosaic (Fiona Jewel Glass Shown Below). This mosaic would really brighten up a bathroom and I realized it fits perfect with Lemon Zest from Pantone’s 2013 ‘Fashion Color Report’ So I got to thinking it would be neat to find a tile op

The Masculine Bath

The Perfect Bath

'A bath with a masculine orientation is more about grooming than primping. There will not be any dressing tables, fluffy rugs or soft colors and trays of cosmetics. I imagine a man’s bath will use rich polished wood for furniture or decorative accessories, dark colors from gray to brown and beautifully figured or textured stone. I think of the spaces as clean and direct, chic and sophisticated, modern or quirky/cluttered in the tradition of an English men’s club.

Cupboards Kitchen and Bath: Sink-Spotting: Lenova Entertainer

Discerning Design

'Thursday, June 27, 2013. Sink-Spotting: Lenova Entertainer. Second sinks in kitchens are not new. Even giving a secondary sink a very narrow job description has become more and more common. Remember when we called them "salad sinks"? Did anyone actually use one for salad? Many times, even in large kitchens, a poorly located secondary sink often ate up valuable work space that otherwise could have left a large uninterrupted multi-use part of a kitchen.

Design Secrets [or, Back in the USSR]

KB Culture

'Inspired by the cloak-and-dagger drama surrounding [perhaps] temporary Moscow resident Edward Snowden, I offer this bathroom for today''s post. In his Saint Petersburg apartment, antiques dealer Sergei Bobovnikov evokes the institutional ambience of a Soviet state-sponsored sports training facility, circa 1930s. Salvaged submarine valves resurface as handles on the shower enclosure; light fixtures from a decommissioned tugboat also find a new identity in the room.

The “I’m Not Writing About Design Today” Post

Indeed, there''s an on-and-off history of corporate collaboration between the two businesses.

The Whimsical World of Charlotte Mann

'Who in the world is Charlotte Mann? Well if you live in Great Britain, you’ve probably heard of her.
