Match Your Pottery Barn Style

Architectural Ceramics

'Did you just receive your Fall 2013 Pottery Barn catalog in the mail? We did! Pottery Barn is actually my favorite home furniture store, I always drag my husband through that one store when we’re at the mall together. In fact, we went to lunch at the mall after church on Sunday with my in-laws and the one store we walked through was Pottery Barn (haha).

I for one have been woefully ignorant of the telltale nature of the toilet seat and the pivotal role it plays in commercial real estate and corporate politics! To believe this 1930s ad, the washroom accessory is both status symbol and architectural asset, found in the the most prestigious, progressive buildings.

Double Trouble

KB Culture

'This ceramic tile, although based on a 17th century design, is very familiar to me. Several times a day, I feel the gaze of four unblinking, grey/green feline eyes, as the cats silently remind me that I''m delinquent in feeding, brushing, opening/closing doors, and otherwise serving them. So while I won''t be installing the Os Gatos tile in my kitchen, it might very well be suited to yours. deferranti.com.

'When I was attending the LivingKitchen show early this year, I met Frank Koschembar, who, along with Gerd Pfarré, has created a most fantastic magazine, Illuminator. It is devoted completely and passionately to the most elusive of expressive media, light. The publication, which measures 38 inches x 27 inches [that means a two-page spread is a glorious, visually stunning 76 x 54], takes both space and time to read—not an insignificant statement in this era of ever-smaller electronic informationa

Margaret Almon Mosaics

'Susan Nadelson Space Dyed Roving. Susan Nadelson loves texture and color, and she plays with their unlimited possibilities to create one-of-a-kind handspun yarn. To begin, she finds the softest fleeces from special breeds of sheep. She cleans them by hand, removing bits of twigs and hay, then washes the wool in hot water with gentle natural soap. While the fleece air dries, Susan selects mohair, silk, bamboo, and other luxurious fibers to combine with the sheep’s wool.
